Devlog #0 : what is Detective Desforge?


Welcome to the first DevLog of Detective Desforge! Here you will find the informations about our point and click game.

Detective Desforge is a Point & Click adventure game, you play David Desforge, a young detective who must investigate a wave of disappearances in the small town of Mansville.

Gameplay

Since my youth, I have been a big fan of point&click.It seemed obvious to me to start my first game with this genre. The idea is to try to use the most modern mechanics of the genre and to build and tell a coherent story around that.

Of course there will be puzzles and dialogue choices but that will not be the heart of our gameplay. We want to tell a story. Our gameplay inspirations come from Powerhoof productions and the latest Monkey Island.

We will use actions with two verbs and illustrated dialogue choices (like the old Sam&Max)

Techniques



 

To carry out our project, we use the Unity engine with the Adventure Creator plugin. We have chosen to stay on unity despite the latest controversy. For us Unity is a tool that is easy to use and very modular.

Being alone on a project like this it is difficult to juggle all the creative phases. This is why I chose the pixel art style for the aspect, which does not require very great technique in drawing and modeling.And for the development aspect to use the Adventure Creator plugin which allows me to simplify certain programming steps while allowing me to concentrate on small, more specific developments for the project.
